about

Julian of Norwich was a 13th century English religious mystic. After experiencing an awakening during a near death experience at the age of 30, she became an anchorite and dedicated her life to contemplation and prayer. Julian was famed during her lifetime and has been remembered in the centuries since for the vision of peace, love, and freedom from sin she presented in her work, The Shewings of Julian of Norwich, the first known book written by a woman in English.

Selections from and interpretations of Julian’s 13th century mystical writings are set above an arrangement of winds, mallets, cello and piano composed to capture the lush and contemplative feeling of her works.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
